I have a brother (Ed.) I never know what to get him. The two things I think of when I think of Ed is karate and fishing.
Well I was talking with an Internet friend of mine (Hi Chuck!) He said something about fly tying. We got talking about it and then he sent me this kick butt starter set that he made up for me (thank-you Chuck.)
So, you know me. I jumped into yet another hobby to learn!
Here you see where I added the bead (to look like a head of bug.) Then I started to add the lead wire.
Here you see where I added the bead (to look like a head of bug.) Then I started to add the lead wire.Ok, maybe Ed will get lucky with this thing and the fish swimming by might be partly blind to my mistakes..
I noticed my fingers are fat and those hooks are really small. Even so it was fun to do.

**My buddy (Chuck) told me that I used a scud hook with more of a wooly bugger type of fly. Right now that sounds Greek to me BUT I am in the mood to learn a little Greek!
He also shared a wonderful link with me that you might like to see about fly fishing

How fun! I can't believe CHRISTmas is a week from today buy I am already finished with shopping and wrapping and just sent out a last minute package to my brother and sis-in-law and niece in GA.
For what it's worth...if I were a fish, I'd bite!
I think it looks great and would be a cool hobby! You need a hat to store all of them in...like Col Blake on M*A*S*H!
Hello Amy,
I know it's getting close. I have everything made and shipped out now too! Feels good to have it all done. I hope everyone likes what I made.

I love M*A*S*H
Dora,
I saw a comment you made on a you tube video about painting with milk paint. (March 08) You commented that you make your own milk paint. I like primitive wood items and just figured out that that painted look is achieved with milk paint (or something of the like)
Would you mind telling me what you know about milk paint, where to get it, how to make it, how you've used it. I need more info on it, but the local craft/hardware stores don't know anything about it and the internet's ideas sometime clash.
thanks!
