Back in the early 80's I remember my parents making Easter baskets. So, I thought with Easter coming up that I would make some with my kids. So, they too could learn how to make them.

It's been so many years that I forgot how to do them. I had to call my mother up and ask her. She refreshed my memory (Thanks mom!)

Materials needed:
Glue (I bought Royal Coat clear finish at $5.97 for 16 oz. but you can use Elmer's also. My mother said she used to use a craft glue. Another lady I talked to used Elmer's and swears by it.)

Crochet thread (My mother said they used a thin type of twine but I couldn't find it so I used Crochet thread. I paid $1.77 for 300 yards.)

Balloons (I bought 15 count of 12 inch balloons at $1.17)

A box to hold the balloon when putting glue on and to hold it while it dries. I used a chip container to hold it to dry and a heart box to hold it while I glued it.

Fake Green Grass

Scissors

Paint brush To put glue on.

First you blow your balloon up.

Then you take the crochet threads and wrap it them around the balloon (a little at a time.) Then glue it. Wrap the some more around it and glue it some more.

Let set.

This is the part that I LOVED as a child. My parents let me pop the balloons! So, let the kids pop 'em!

Then you take cut a hole in the front of the egg.

Then stuff with ugly fake green grass and stuff with whatever goodies you'd like.

Now, as I noticed this morning when we were ready to pop the thing, I didn't use enough thread. Still I decided to pop it anyway.

Next time (which will be next weekend) we will use much more thread and I'll use the Elmers glue or the craft glue.

It was a fun project anyway.
